Confession #1: I supported the invasion of Iraq.
Confession #2: I still don’t think it was a bad idea.
Confession #3: It was a big mistake.
Concession #1: Those who predicted a disaster were right for the right reasons.
Concession #2: They were right about their own military.
Concession #3: They were right about their own leadership.
My original thought was that, no matter how badly the Americans screwed up, the Iraqi people would still be better off with Saddam gone. My best guess is that, right now, it’s a sawoff. The longer this goes on, the more the Iraqi people will lose, even if they manage to avoid an all-out civil war when the Americans inevitably withdraw.
Hindsight is 20/20, they say, but I really should have seen this coming.
For a warmonger, I’m really pretty naive.

Given the past history of the US imperialistic behaviours, it should have been no surprise at all, but but as long as your decisions were made with an iota of thought and consideration, and considering that I don’t take you to be a moron (your post today proves that, I think), you are farther ahead than most US policy makers.
