Let’s Talk About You

Who are you? What do you think of yourself? What would you like to think of yourself? What would you like us to think about you?
Which of those questions is most important to you? (No, don’t tell me - I already know, even if you don’t - but this isn’t about me, it’s about you).
You are the hero of your own life story, or at least of the running narrative in your head, some of which might be related to the actual life you are living. You would like us to see you as you would like to see yourself, but probably do not, and probably cannot.
Relax. There’s nothing wrong with you (there is, but that’s a different subject for a different day). We’re all like that. We’re all the same (but this isn’t about us, it’s about you).
Yes, you fall short of your ideal, and you fall short of ours. We will never see you as the hero of our life stories - we’re just not made that way. So, frankly, we’re a bit disappointed in you, but no more than you are disappointed in yourself. If we were talking about us, we would tell you that we feel the same way about ourselves and each other, but we’re not, so we won’t.

Short form: “All suffering is the result of projection.”
I love what you’ve done with the place.
Why, these are the nicest things you’ve ever said to me. Thank you.
Drivel.
Hey, all.
Dawn, thanks. Projection, yes, if you think that envy and jealousy are the caused by it; I would agree with that.
Topazz. That might just be true.
Anonymous. Trivial, perhaps, but trivially true, so not really drivel.
What I think of myself:
A losing lottery ticket. Full of hope and promise. But in the end, a cheap letdown.
PS: Thanks for liking.
A cheap letdown? Maybe. But never a cheap date.
Apparently, divinity does not exempt one from the doldrums.
It’s pass, lovely. Stay away from sharp objects. I’d hate to have to post bail for you AGAIN.
