Ugly, Ugly Day

The furnace died some time last night. $250 to have someone come out and replace a sensor(?!?).
Pretty much spent the rest of it fighting with the wife, who seems to think this whole internet thing is way overrated.
Yuck. Blah. Ptui.
The sun will come out tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow…

Maybe we can introduce your wife to my husband, who speaks of slate as my secret lover.
Kid theater majors who star in plays like “Annie” make me want to barf.
…just the last line.
Perhaps we need a support group?
Dearest Schad:
Replacing the flame sensor on most furnaces is on par with changing the most convenient spark plug on your car.
Does the furnace act like it wants to come on, or burn briefly, and then stop? That’s a flame sensor.
It’s a little metal probe that extends into the flame. They get dirty. You can get by awhile by removing it and cleaning it off with light sand paper or an emery cloth (but remove any fingerprint residue) until you bother to get down to the appliance store, or have one delivered or something.
At the very least, watch the guy as he’s changing it. In the future, you’ll be saving yourself the price of a service call.
[And if I’m right, you could have the satisfaction of learning something useful from one of “those online people”, thus demonstrating the value of your interactions here. I’ll buy another book soon, too.]
Dawn,
I guess one should be always careful about what one says. Never know if that might bring it to you.
Oh, tell me about it.
How are you, bite? Long time, and all that. I saw a post of yours in the DP fray. I remember you expressing a different perspective last year, and just wanted to acknowledge that. It’s a big story to get hold of, and to sort out. Eventually it all settles down, though.
Ambivalence
The idea of selling the house and moving is just too exhausting.
And lawyers seem like such a waste of hard-earned college funds.
