Why Are We Here?

By that I mean: why have we started this business with the forum?

So far at least, it’s certainly not for the money.

We are both veterans of Slate’s Fray and, so far, so are all of our registered users. In the near future, we hope to attract more members of that community and to expand beyond that.

Having used the Fray, and several other forums, we believe that we can do it better.

The difference is really one of attitude. We operate with the general philosophy that words in the forum are just as important as words in a blog or words in a magazine, and that those who read the forum are just as important as those who read the blogs, or any of the other content that we may offer.

This is one of the reasons that we have decided to use a threaded forum. Responses to a post can be just as interesting (or more interesting) as the original post, and good conversations are more interesting still. It’s the give and take that makes being online better than reading a print magazine.

The larger our network gets, the better it will be. We want diversity of opinion and viewpoint. We don’t want an echo chamber. We want our readers and writers to be continually challenged in their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs.

If you have a blog or website, consider joining our community. If you have a fairly active comments section, then consider adding a nuponuq forum to your site. It can only bring more readers to your site, and give your thoughts, opinions and experiences a wider audience. It will also expose you to new ideas and points of view.
