Unmotivated

unmotivated.jpgI’m wondering how I could be any less motivated in my work.  I thought I was unmotivated when they sold the company.  I was - in fact I was very unmotivated, but I had yet to plumb the depths of true unmotivation.

This past week, they handed out the layoff notices.  I got eight months’ notice.  But did I get a nice tidy little cheque to go with that?  No.  They actually expect me to “help with the transition”.  They want me to work!!  What the fuck?OK.  Now I’m truly, madly, deeply unmotivated.  The overpowering feeling of ennui is even carrying over to the rest of my life.  I rarely shave, only occasionally bathe, and my wife had to lock me out of the house to convince me to get a haircut.

Some day, I’m sure, I’ll be able to look back on all of this and laugh but, right now, that seems like it would take too much effort.

Yes, it is amazing that you can be given the shaft and be expected to willingly participate in the rape…

I could try and be helpful and say “When one door closes, another door opens” but there’s always the possibility that there is a tiger behind the opening door.

The interesting thing has been watching all of the execs scrambling for position. Most of the VP’s seem to have landed themselves jobs with the new owners - by acting as middlemen and denying direct access to lower levels.

I’ve been unmotivated in my job for a while - this summer has reached a new low. It’s gotten to the point where I literally stay in bed until the last possible minute and do my makeup at stoplights in the car on the way in.
In an effort to give myself a shot in the arm I’m applying for a new position that I’d be perfect for - now if I can just convince the PTB of that fact.
